The People

A coalition is carried by people who already trust each other.

Million Peacemakers is the catalyst of the Youth Led Peace Collaboration, a coalition of five founding institutions. Two principals carry every relationship at its center, five partner movements hold the reach, and a proposed development partnership stands ready to build the tools the coalition needs. This page is honest about all three layers, including where the work still depends on a small number of people.

The Posture

An AI-native organization, by design

Million Peacemakers is positioning itself to be the first AI-native peacebuilding organization, the category leader in delivering ethical, youth-centered technology to the world's largest coalition of youth networks. Where others run programs, the ambition here is to build the protocol layer that lets a coalition reach a generation, with safety and human dignity built into the technology itself. That ambition shapes how the organization is staffed, partnered, and run.

Ethical technology at the center

The technology is built on the Nonflict framework, with empathy and cultural sensitivity, and safeguarding designed in for a young, under-18 audience. The organization treats how a tool sits with a young person as a first-order design question, not a compliance afterthought.

A protocol layer, not a program

The ambition is to build the protocol that installs underneath the platforms young people already use, so a method built once carries across the whole coalition. The organization is structured to operate at the layer beneath the surfaces, not as one more app a young person is asked to visit.

Built to earn a category lead

A proposed development partnership brings the engineering, AI architecture, and design capability to build the tools, and a proposed coalition trust mark is designed to mark any tool that meets the standard. Both are in development. This is a position the organization is building toward, never one it claims to have already reached.

AI-native category leadership is an ambition Million Peacemakers is building toward, not an achieved or certified title. The development partnership and the Yellow Butterfly Trust Mark are proposed and in development, never signed or live. Figures reflect the current plan and are subject to confirmation.

Leadership

The principals carry every relationship

The leadership of Million Peacemakers is two people. They own the methodology, the founding relationships, and every donor conversation. That concentration is a strength and a candidly stated dependency, addressed plainly on the risks page.

Stephen Hecht

Chief Executive Peacemaker

Founder, gatekeeper, and standing convener

LinkedIn

Founder of Million Peacemakers and creator of the Nonflict method, a peacemaking pedagogy a quarter-century in development. As Chief Executive Peacemaker he is the catalyst and gatekeeper of the Youth Led Peace Collaboration, the person around whom the coalition convenes and the one who holds the methodology that defines what gets taught.

What this person carries

  • The methodology that anchors the entire coalition
  • The founding relationships across the five partner institutions
  • Final say on what is taught and how the method is honored
  • The gatekeeping that protects the coalition’s integrity

Jon Moyal

Executive Director & Peacemaker

Coalition operations and the development conversation

LinkedIn

Executive Director of Million Peacemakers. Jon runs the operating reality of the coalition and led the conversation that shaped the proposed development partnership, framing the need for a co-creation partner who sits in every coalition conversation and returns between them with the tools the coalition needs to deliver across its networks.

What this person carries

  • The day-to-day operating rhythm of the coalition
  • The development conversation and the co-creation partner brief
  • Coordination across partner technology and program leads
  • The alignment surface that tells the coalition who walks with it

A note on honesty. As of the source materials, the development partnership had not yet met Stephen, and a gating meeting is the next step. The coalition’s durability rests on five institutional members, not on two individuals, which is the structural answer to a founder-dependency concern. Nothing here presents the partnership as confirmed.

The Coalition

Five founding institutions, signed in Geneva

The Youth Led Peace Collaboration was signed in October 2025. The reach below belongs to each partner, not to Million Peacemakers, and becomes accessible only once a partner chooses to deploy a coalition tool into its own network. That is the honest framing, and it is a credibility asset rather than a hedge.

World YMCA

Global youth-serving movement

40M+ people served per year

Borrowed network reach

120 countries and more than 10,000 local associations. The published figure is people served, framed as borrowed network reach the YMCA itself controls.

International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies

The world’s largest humanitarian network

160M people reached per year

Borrowed network reach

191 national societies and roughly 80 million members and volunteers. The coalition is anchored at IFRC headquarters, which is the credibility center of the collaboration.

JA Worldwide

Youth economic and entrepreneurship education

23M+ students per year

Borrowed network reach

100+ countries and roughly 790,000 volunteers. A verified youth-education rail the coalition can install a method into, on JA’s own deployment decision.

Family Enterprise Foundation

Multinational family-enterprise network

Described by role, no reach figure

Described by role

A multinational network of family enterprises and the Founding-Family channel into the coalition. No reach figure is published or invented; its contribution is the relationship pathway, not a headline number.

Million Peacemakers

Catalyst, gatekeeper, and convener

2.5M trained (its own figure)

Attributed claim

The creator of the Nonflict method and the catalyst of the coalition. Its direct reach is small relative to the partner networks; the 2.5M figure is its own claim, attributed and never folded into the network total.

One number set per surface: the verified, conservative column only, framed as borrowed reach. Figures reflect the current plan and are subject to confirmation.

Commitment Calendar

Public moments that raise the cost of exit

A young coalition earns durability through a sequence of public commitment moments. Each one is a real, dated milestone that makes the collaboration harder to walk away from and anchors the credibility of the work.

The Proposed Partnership

A co-creation partner on the development side

Million Peacemakers is exploring a development partnership to build the tools the coalition delivers through its networks. It is described here in capability terms and presented as proposed, not confirmed. The seat is not assumed: five founding partners hold decision rights over what deploys through their networks, and earning trust at this table takes time, patience, and demonstrated alignment.

Moral integrity substrate

A moral-architecture stack that sits beneath every AI experience as a silent integrity layer, testing each response against encoded values before it reaches a young person. The substrate is what makes the rest of the stack trustworthy at the scale of a youth audience.

Presence-grade conversation layer

A consumer protocol that gives an AI conversation the felt qualities of presence, peace, sacred-rhythm scaffolding, and memory. It installs underneath whatever AI experiences the coalition partners want to ship, rather than competing with anything in the coalition toolkit.

Co-creation, not service provision

A partner who sits in every coalition conversation, goes back between conversations to build, and returns with working tools to react to. The proposed posture is part of the mix, not a vendor on a statement of work.

Full product and engineering capability

Engineering, product, design, marketing, and capital-formation specialists who have shipped across consumer, education, healthcare, and youth-development work. The capability to design native apps, upgrade an existing conversational companion, and build the shared spine that installs a method across partner surfaces.

Yellow Butterfly trust mark

Yellow Butterfly

The Yellow Butterfly trust mark

A proposed trust mark, in development, that would recognize any coalition tool built to the shared ethical-technology standard. A visible mark for safe-by-design technology young people and families can trust.

Proposed, in development

How It Works

The principals are the face, the operation is the substrate

A clear line that never blurs: the proposed partnership prepares everything, and the principal is the face of every donor-facing moment. The operation exists to make the principals look effortless, not to stand in front of them.

The principals (Stephen and Jon)

Every donor relationship, the ask, the counter-signature on Million Peacemakers’ behalf, and stewardship as the relationship owner. A family of this calibre is moved by the founder and the executive director, never by an operation.

The proposed development partnership

The operational substrate held up beneath the principals: target-list research, the donor CRM as system of record, briefing logistics, proposal and gift-agreement drafting, funds reconciliation and receipting workflow, and stewardship reporting. The principal is the face of every donor-facing moment; the operation is the part they rarely see.

There is a spot for a co-creation partner on the development side that does not act as a service provider, but is part of every conversation, and between each conversation goes back to devise the best possible tools to provide the coalition to deliver throughout their networks.

How to read this page

Real people, a real coalition, a proposed partner

The principals and the five founding partners are real and named. The development partnership and the Yellow Butterfly Trust Mark are proposed and in development, never signed or live. Partner reach is borrowed and controlled by each partner. The 250 million figure is a 2035 goal. A Founding Family commitment is a charitable gift, with no equity and no financial return. Stating all of this plainly is the point.
