The coalition agreed on one roadmap. This is the substance every partner agreed to carry.

Chapter Three · The Method
Nonflict is not a workshop. It is the Engine.

Nonflict is Million Peacemakers’ peacemaking pedagogy, refined over twenty-five years: the operating system for Generation Peace, a structured way to move through conflict that any young person can learn and carry for life.

Nonflict is not a slogan or a campaign. It is a teachable, repeatable method for working through conflict, developed and refined over a quarter of a century and already taught to 2.5 million people. It is the substance the entire coalition agrees to carry, the thing that makes the alliance an alliance about something.

The method is designed to meet young people where they already are. As Jon Moyal of Million Peacemakers puts it, the Red Cross does its learning on WhatsApp, and the work is to go there rather than pull anyone away. The method reaches young people through the platforms they already trust: messaging apps, the web, online learning portals, and the tools their own movements already run.

The Engine, in three steps

How the operating system runs.

Nonflict is not a workshop you attend once. It is a working method, an engine a young person runs every time they meet conflict. Three steps, repeatable for life.

01

Understand Yourself and Your Partner

Each person names their own needs and fears, then genuinely takes in the other’s. The work starts inside, before it ever reaches the disagreement.

02

Understand Your Shared Reality

The two move from competing stories to one shared picture of the situation, the facts and feelings both can stand behind.

03

Co-Create Your Ideal Reality

From the shared picture, they build a way forward together, an outcome neither could have reached alone. Resolution, not compromise.

From Spark to Scale

How one person's shift becomes cultural change.

The method does not stop at the individual. It moves from a spark inside one young person to change across the communities and institutions they touch: Mindsets, then Behaviours and Relationships, then Communities and Institutions.

01

Mindsets

Cultural change begins inside a person: the empathy, self-awareness, and willingness to understand another that conflict resolution depends on.

02

Behaviours and Relationships

Shifted mindsets become new behaviours and healthier relationships, the way young people show up with families, peers, and across difference.

03

Communities and Institutions

New behaviours, carried at scale, reshape the communities and institutions young people move through. Spark to scale.

The principle behind everything

Install once, install deep, deploy everywhere.

The method installs into the platforms a young person already uses, the way a font installs into a system and quietly changes how everything renders. Nothing asks a young person to leave the place they trust.

01

Install once

The method is placed into the coalition’s infrastructure a single time, as a shared layer rather than a separate product.

02

Install deep

It sits beneath the surface, the way a font installs into a system. Every tool that draws on it inherits its character automatically.

03

Deploy everywhere

Once it is in place, every existing tool is enhanced and every new tool inherits the method, across all five partner networks.

Where the method goes

It meets young people on the surfaces they already trust.

Meeting young people where they are is not a slogan; it is the integration strategy. The method travels into four kinds of surface, each one a place a young person already spends time.

Messaging platforms

WhatsApp and WeChat, where a great deal of the learning already happens. The method installs as a layer between the platform and the model, and the young person’s experience is the one they already trust.

Web and learning portals

An integration that drops into a portal’s existing flow. The portal keeps its branding, its interface, and its accreditation. The conflict-resolution experience inside it carries the method.

A conflict-resolution companion

A multilingual companion that meets a young person in the moment, shaped by the method and built to feel safe rather than transactional.

New tools, built with the method inside

A game-based app and a deepened learning platform, each carrying the method from the first line of code rather than bolting it on later.

What the method becomes in software

Five tool surfaces, one shared standard.

The method does not arrive as one app. It arrives as a set of surfaces, each one a different way for a young person to meet it, all carrying the same standard underneath.

Nonflict App

A daily-habit peacemaking experience that carries a young person through the method through play, with accreditation tied to existing infrastructure. Native across mobile and web, localized for 120+ countries.

Nonflict AI

A multilingual conflict-resolution companion with presence-grade conversation quality, deployable across the web, mobile, messaging platforms, and partner portals.

Online Learning Platform

Self-paced multilingual courses with an accreditation flow and learning telemetry, embeddable into each partner’s own learning surface.

Alignment Meter

A privacy-preserving way to discover values-aligned peers, mentors, and content, turning "I am learning" into "I am walking with others."

Integration Spine

A shared layer that installs the method underneath every coalition tool, existing and future, so one standard runs across all of them.

Three movements

From the widest touch to the deepest.

The same method carries across three depths of engagement. The next chapter sizes each one against the goal.

01

Inspire

Mass-reach awareness through the surfaces young people already use. The widest, lightest touch.

02

Prepare

Structured learning and accreditation for the young people who choose to go deeper.

03

Succeed

Mentored facilitators who carry the method into their own communities. The deepest touch.

Rails that scale a method into infrastructure.

A method taught one room at a time reaches thousands. The same method installed into the surfaces a generation already uses can reach hundreds of millions, without ever feeling like a campaign. That is the leap the technology rails are built to make.

A proposed development partnership builds those rails: a game-based app, a multilingual companion, a deepened learning platform, and the shared integration layer underneath them, each carrying the method as its foundation. A proposed trust mark would recognize any coalition tool built to that standard. The technology is delivered to coalition partners as their participation in the collaboration, not sold to them.

The development partnership and the trust mark are proposed and in development, not signed or live. Figures reflect the current plan and are subject to confirmation.

“Young people are where they are, and we should meet them there.”
